Fair weather Gardening Club
Moreton House used to have extensive formal and kitchen gardens, as well as a walled garden, ponds and lakes. Most of that has gone now, but we do still have 5 acres of beautiful grounds. We are developing a new stone walled area enclosing a traditional potager garden of raised beds, edible hedging, fruit trees, and later a greenhouse and potting shed.
We had our first modest crop of vegetables this year, but with so many things going on with our house renovation, we need help to make it all happen. So we are planning to open our garden gates and ask for volunteers to join us.
If you live locally and fancy a bit of fair-weather gardening, with trug-fulls of tea, cake and chat too, do get in touch. We will provide the refreshments, the tools and plants, and we'll plan to open up one afternoon a week at first. No regular commitment, no membership, just pop along if the mood takes you. If you have some experience to share, or if you have recently downsized and are missing your garden but don't want the responsibility of an entire allotment, if you fancy picking up some new tips and skills, or if you are just retired and in need of some new friends, your help will be much appreciated. We have lots of plans, or we can just offer a space for you to bring your own ideas alive.
We plan to start soon, so please do get in touch.
