Now the Victorian wing apartments are complete, we are turning our attention to the older areas of the house. Currently we have everything from dated school shower blocks to ballrooms, vaulted cellars to cosy loft rooms, even one room with a missing floor, and we have a several-year plan to de-institutionalise and restore it.
We have already started work on the portico entrance and some of the grand reception rooms, and have all the consents in place to upgrade the school toilets and renovate the morning room with its stunning bay window. This is our very next job, and we aim to create a room suitable for small functions, gathering or exhibitions, with a coffee bar and good access to parking, toilets and the gardens. Our plan is to make this space available for hire as a venue for small private and community functions, and as we complete them, to gradually increase the number of rooms available. Our aim is to creat a beautiful boutique function and wedding venue.
There are also living areas and dormitories that were used by school staff and boarding students, which we aim to turn into further accommodation to complement and service the function space and to expand the holiday lettings rooms available. Eventually we might even get around to upgrading our own living space!
There's still a long way to go, but hopefully with your support we will manage to save the whole of this wonderful building. Every penny we make running the first phase of our business will be ploughed back into our restorations.
