Our Grounds & Garden Spaces

Although conveniently located right on the outskirts of Bideford, Moreton House is set in five acres of mature gardens, and surrounded by ancient woodlands and fields, so you can easily find a quiet spot to escape.

There's plenty of space to wander or play games, wooded areas for picnics, benches and a swing seat for reading and also some areas that are ideally suited for small outdoor functions or activities.

The Terraces and the Croquet Lawn provide flat grassy areas suitable for marquees. For an outdoor function, indoor toilets and a reception office can be made available.

The log camp is a hidden clearing surrounded by trees and shrubs, with log seating and a tree house coming soon, providing a hidden enclosed space particularly suitable for a children's party or team building activity

The Secret Garden is another hidden clearing, this time in the middle of a huge rhododendron stand. It is ideally set up for outdoor catering, with a campfire circle, large gazebo and BBQ area.

The Kitchen garden is still under development, but will eventually be a working walled pottager garden - a vegetable garden with a formal design structure- with fruit trees and an edible hedge, flowers for cutting and raw materials for forest school and craft projects.

The Imaginarium is a magical woven willow enclosure, with a carved story chair under a woven arbour, arched entrance and fire pit with seating, all designed to let the imagination run wild. Ideal for children's activities, small quirky parties, story times and sundowners.
