With five acres of private grounds, surrounded by countryside and mature woodland, our peaceful and private setting belies our convenient location. People often say they feel like we’re completely away from it all, yet we are in fact just a couple of minutes from the main Atlantic Highway and on the outskirts of the town of Bideford. In this way, we provide the ideal location for a retreat or residential course.

With our elegant period function rooms, spacious ballroom, practical playroom and gardens, as well as catering facilities and accommodation on site, we can cater for all kinds of different retreats or courses.

We can provide spaces suitable for learning, whether desk-based or lecture based, with conference tables or presentation equipment.

Our large ballroom makes a wonderful studio for drawing or yoga. We have elegant and inspiring spaces to dine, take a break or mingle.

The rooms may have period features and style, but they are also newly restored with modern wiring, plenty of sockets, USB charging outlets, good wifi and a sonos sound system running throughout the function rooms.

We also have large private gardens, ideal for escaping, immersing in nature or outdoor workshops. We can arrange for bell-tents or marquees to extend the weather-proof options.

  • Accommodation in the house comes in different levels to suit different budgets and needs.

    We have three large 2-bedroom apartments set up for self catering, and a self catering studio apartment. For single occupancy this gives 7 ensuite bedrooms, and we have 2 further luxury ensuite guest rooms that can be added (these don’t have their own kitchens).

    Depending on availability, we may be able to offer half a dozen additional ‘budget’ guest rooms with shared bathrooms.

    We can also assist in organising further off-site accommodation in the area if required.

    The accommodation is extremely spacious and luxurious, providing lots of mingling space, yet still plenty of privacy in the bedroom areas.

  • We have a fully equipped professional catering kitchen. If you have your own catering team or chef, this is available for use, or we can arrange catering for you, whether for a single meal, or for a chef or catering team to work with you throughout the entirety of your stay.

    The self-catering suites also come with large well-equipped domestic style kitchens, as well as BBQs and outdoor dining facilities, for use by your group, and we can arrange hampers and deliveries to take advantage of these. The largest apartment offers dining space for a dozen or more to dine at the same table easily.
