Keeping it Sweet and Simple
You want your wedding to be special and memorable, with amazing photo opportunities to capture the moment for ever. But you’d rather spend your money on the house, the family or the holiday. So what are your options?
We offer budget-friendly day hire during the week or at the weekend, so you can have the ceremony, the backdrop and the photos from just £999 for a midweek ceremony for 30 guests. Bring your own toast drinks, opt for an indoor or outdoor ceremony space (fully licenced for civil marriages) and enjoy the run of the house and grounds for photos.
Our simple and transparent pricing means you can add elements that are important to you - some canapes, a signature cocktail, a night or two in our VIP suite, a private dinner for your closest family, a string quartet, a mini cake to cut…whatever matters to you. For 2-30 guests you pay our minimum hire, but we can add a larger room to go all the way up to 70.
Outdoors or indoors
Moreton House is just minutes from the stunning North Devon coast with five acres of private mature tree-lined gardens. So if formal isn’t your vibe, we can offer rustic, boho and outdoor spaces too. Our secret garden - a magical grotto completely enclosed by mature shrubs - gives you a wooden gazebo, fire circle and picnic seating.
If the weather turns wet (and yes, this is Devon), you always have the reassurance that there’s a completely indoor backup space, with no additional charge.
The numbers
Our most cost-effective options seat up to 30 for a ceremony, however we can offer day hire for up to 70 guests. Standard day hire gives you access from 9am until 5pm.
Prices start from £999 for midweek, £1199 for Friday/weekend dates.

What’s Included
Our KISS (Keep it Sweet and Simple) package offers simple budget friendly venue hire during the daytime. We include use of our panelled hall for indoor ceremonies, our Portico for a sheltered but outdoor space with the house as a backdrop, or our rustic secret garden for outdoor garden weddings.
You have access to our Morning Room Bar and luxurious WCS, allowing you to add a simple drinks or food service, music and mingling. You’ll have the run of the grounds, and we also allow your photographer to take you around the formal spaces of the house for photos.
You have access on the day to decorate and dress the space and bring your personal touches. You can bring your own choice of furniture and decor or we can provide everything, from as little as £2 per guest.
Optional extras
We offer a transparent pricing menu allowing you to include just the elements you require. You are free to bring your own food and drinks, decor, furniture and flowers, or you can ask us to arrange catering, set up and do everything for you. We can offer extra hours, extra guests, extra rooms, private dining, accommodation, getting ready rooms and more.
The Look
Even with a budget-friendly wedding, there’s no reason you can’t come away with priceless photos. We allow full access to our grounds and formal spaces of the house for photos. The house is fully furnished and full of light, ideal for formal posed portraits or more informal documentary style photography or videos.
Our Accommodation
We offer accommodation on site for up to 30 guests, so it’s possible to combine a group stay for all of your guests with day hire of the venue. Our guest rooms are set around a private courtyard, with lots of communal spaces, including an indoor play room, a snug lounge, a kitchen and dining space big enough for all, BBQ decks and of course our grounds. Enjoy our formal rooms for you ceremony and photos, then continue your celebrations in your group accommodation suites. You can self cater, BBQ, or we are happy to recommend private dining chefs or caterers.
The Details
Moreton House is a grade-II listed country house on the outskirts of the historic port town of Bideford, near the beautiful North Devon Coast. We are easy to reach, at just 1 hour from the M5, 3.5 hours from London and 2 minutes from the north Devon link road. Travel by train to Barnstaple (20 mins away) or Tiverton Parkway (50 mins away).
Prices start at £999 for a midweek day hire (9am to 5pm) or £1199 for Friday and weekend day hire for up to 30 guests. Catering, furnishing, set-up, clear up, decor and additional staffing available for additional fees. Please enquire for our full price list.
We offer a flexible payment schedule, please ask about our options. Full details of our terms can be provided on request. Damage deposit may also be required.
Moreton House is licensed by Devon Registration Services. The cost of your registrar or celebrant’s fees are not included.
