ABOUT YOUR STAY

Your Stately Home Away From Home

So much more than a suite

Every apartment at Moreton House is carefully designed to be a home away from home, with period features and stylish fittings and furnishings, not to mention a tasty welcome basket with essential supplies and local treats.

We also have grand function rooms, including the club room with leather chairs, snooker, card table and bar, hallway with baby grand piano, a formal dining room, coffee room, drawing room and ballroom, many of which can be hired by residents and non-residents for a family occasion or small function.

5 Acres of Grounds for You to Enjoy

There is easy, free, on-site parking, right by the door, and every apartment has a deck, courtyard with BBQ and outdoor seating assigned for your exclusive use.

As well as that, you are free to explore our five acres of mature gardens, with ancient trees, hidden play areas, quiet corners to picnic or settle for a sundowner, and grassy spaces in which to stroll, or try croquet, the slack line, cricket or other fun outdoor games.

There is a camp fire circle, gas BBQ and gazebo hidden in our rhododendron-enclosed secret garden, which can be reserved for a private party. A willow house with carved story chair and a log camp will enchant the children, and we are currently developing our walled kitchen garden and edible hedge, which in the future should allow some pre-dinner foraging.

Enjoy Sunset Walks & Dine in Style

Whatever kind of holiday you are seeking can be found right on the doorstep - from romantic sunset walks and cosy country inns, family-or dog-friendly beaches, deserted moorland hikes, browsing for antiques or artisan gifts in a quaint fishing quay or market town, National Trust properties and stately homes, to thrills and adventure of surfing, mountain biking, kiting or rock climbing.

And, by choosing Moreton, you will also benefit from a range of fabulous shared amenities around the house and grounds.

Borrow our bikes, our cosy up by the fire

For those seeking an active holiday, we have secure storage for bikes, golf clubs and surfboards, even bench space for maintenance and outdoor rinse off station for the dog, children or wetsuits.

Borrow our bikes to explore the narrow lanes or the Tarka trail, or grab one of our picnic sets and beach boxes stocked with a beach shelter, rugs, rock pooling nets, buckets and spades, and a few toys.

For rainy days, we have a bright and airy residents' lounge adjoining a children's library and soft play zone, and coming shortly, a snug residents' library with wood burner and cosy fireside seating with lots of maps and information about what to do in the area.

Exploring North Devon

If you do make it off site, there are all the delights of North Devon, from its stunning coastline to its dramatic moors, right on the doorstep, yet to find us, we are just 2 minutes from the main Atlantic Highway.

The owners live on site, so can offer a range of concierge services including setting up private dining in your apartment, help with excursions, Lundy island trip coordination, local hire cars, and a range of optional extras to make your holiday extra special - Devon cream teas, home-baked cakes, organic vegetable boxes, local fish, deli or grocery deliveries pre-arranged to stock your fridge.
